Drifter Data Citation Requirement
Drifter data users are required to include the following paragraph in their publications for proper acknowledgment: (Click on button below)
“Drifter data were obtained courtesy of Prof. R. H. Weisberg and the USF Ocean Circulation Group, through a coordinated ocean observing and modeling program focusing on the West Florida Shelf [Weisberg et al., 2005]. The drifters were deployed in the eastern Gulf of Mexico region in summer 2010 as a rapid response to the Deepwater Horizon oil spill [Liu et al., 2011a,b,c,d], and the data were used in monitoring the Gulf of Mexico Loop Current and the shelf circulation [Liu et al., 2011b] and in evaluating trajectory models [Liu and Weisberg, 2011, Liu et al., 2014].”
A copy of the publication using our drifter data should be sent to Prof. Weisberg via email (Weisberg@marine.usf.edu) or mail: 140 7th Ave S, St. Petersburg, FL 33701.
