Hello, I'm Patrick Smith and welcome to my webpage. I am currently the Assistant System Administrator and Web Administrator for the Ocean Circulation Group in the College of Marine Science at the University of South Florida. The group is a Physical Oceanography research lab located here in beautiful St. Petersburg, Florida. I have been employed here since June of 1999. Some of my duties include; Designing, implementing and maintaining the groups website. I also manage the apache based webserver for our site. I maintain all of the PC's on the groups network including software installations and upgrades, network configurations, as well as dealing with hardware problems, diagnosis and repair. I am involved in writing C code to manage data and for some web applications including our BSOP program and Orbcomm positioning unit development. I am moderately versed in unix/linux. Recently I have begun expanding into the world of PHP as well as xml/xsl. As usual I am also on hand to help out with any of the daily oceanographic operations and I have been on one research cruise. I consider myself a jack of all trades here and a valuable asset to the group.
